So I was given the job to create a cake that involved mushrooms and tie dye. My mind ran away with me on this one, I had possibly too much fun making it. I think I may have bought too much stuff….
Don’t your arteries hurt just from looking at this?
I started off by making about 3 batches of frosting, 2 to separate and color, and one to dirty frost the cake with.
I just loved the way the toothpicks looked!
I put each color in its own disposable pastry bag, to make decorating easier..
So in case you were wondering what it means to dirty frost something, here is an example-
So after I dirty frosted it, I had to decide which way to place these colors on, so they would resemble a tie dye pattern, I figured the old rainbow stand by would be good for my first try.
I then took my spatula and smeared the frosting in a star burst pattern, I made sure I kept the same motion throughout the whole top of the cake so that it would resemble a symmetrical tie dye t shirt.
I went a little frosting crazy, and used the same technique throughout the whole cake. It put me into such a cake frenzy I did not take any picture during the process, just this final master piece, including a few of my meringue mushrooms!

I like!
