About Me

Hi all, welcome to Jojo Cakes! I plan on using this website to showcase to you my love of cake decorating.

I have been decorating cakes for about 5 years now, it all started with my first post-high school job at a bakery inside of a supermarket. I was hired to bake bread and all things carbohydrate. The job was pretty boring in retrospect, bake bread, throw away stale bread, bake more bread to replace it. I would always look in awe at my cake decorating co workers who would be covered in creativity and multi-colored Crisco. I would rush through my day just so I could watch them at work, slinging frosting and creating little cookie cutter masterpieces. On slow days they would teach me the basics, like shell borders and roses. I would look forward to learning new things everyday. Over time I realized I was too creative for a lowly bakery position and decided to take actions into my own hands. I left, and became increasingly more interested in learning all that I could, so I watched YouTube videos, or just try experimenting on my own.

It was as if a whole new world opened up when I discovered that a local craft store offered Wilton cake decorating classes. I was signed up almost immediately after I discovered this! Wilton was the big leagues, I looked forward to everything they had to teach me.  After my first class it was as if a light bulb went off in my head, I wanted to become an instructor, I wanted to share with people my love for this edible craft. Albeit a little premature I had high hopes that I would learn quickly and be able to become a Wilton Instructor right away. Between the time that I applied and got the job, I hadn’t even finished the classes yet.

Long story short, here I am today, bringing you Jojo Cakes! I hope you enjoy everything I have to show you. I am open to trying new ideas and techniques. If there is a cake you have in your imagination that you would like to make a reality, I am your woman! Stay tuned!
